I remember finally moving out of a room that my little brother and I shared. It was downstairs, right next to the front door, near our bathrooms, next to the kitchen. I was able to paint it, choose between all the different colours. Mum and Dad got me a bunkbed and I was so excited to move all of my stuff in. Only to find that I didn’t really have that much stuff to move in… But what I did have was colour picking powers so I chose light pink for my bedroom. It was everywhere and I loved it. I didn’t have any money to fill my room with different pieces but what I ADORED was having my own space. Gradually over the years as I “developed” my taste, got a job, the chance to decorate, I moved upstairs into my parents room and swapped with them, the room became my own and I began to fill it with my personality. If you know me, you know that I’m absolutely in LOVE with colour. Colourful patterns, artwork, journals, blankets, pillows – it’s like a colour farted all over my room and I am so okay with that.
Style, in all areas of our lives, change. We grow and what we find GORGEOUS at this very moment we might not even think of looking at in the future. I feel like that’s so relevant to our lives right now, as we live them. We develop, we grow, we learn from mistakes and we continue searching for the beauty in life even when it ebbs and flows.
I LOVE expressing myself through what I wear and through the spaces I’m given to decorate and unleash a load of creativity on whatever I see before me. I take inspiration from the world and get really inspired by Moroccan and Indian vibes. If you aren’t able to travel to these places at this moment in time (like me) photographs, pinterest and magazines are a great (and cheaper) way to grab inspiration (not saying you shouldn’t save up for that trip tho). Ransack my room (both here and back at home in my dad’s house) and you’ll find stacks upon stacks of magazines, lifestyle, fashion and travel galore. They’ve been great at showing me what I like and what I dislike concerning style and SNEAKY SECRET – I sometimes take magazines from the travel agents (they’re free yall) and flick through those for inspiration too. I also love going to charity shops and boot sales, looking at freecycle, amazon and ebay for home inspiration. I also watch Youtube videos, my particular favourite being Mr Kate linked here and they do an awesome quiz where you get to find out your “aesthetic” if you weren’t too sure here. And if you’ve ever watched Fixer Upper then let’s just be best friends right now! There’s so much that we can use to fuel that creative, interior design weirdo inside of you I take great joy in just learning more about different pieces I like.
Now I know that this post is a little different to what I’d usually post about faith but what I really wanted to do and show is even more facets of personality and other things that I love LIKE interior design/decor, fashion, art/calligraphy, movies I’ve seen and my thoughts on them. I hope you enjoy a slightly different post!
Here’s to God’s creation and all the different, beautiful things He’s created and enabled us to help create with Him!
